Be still like a mountain, move like a roaring river.
Chi – life energy in flow
Chinese medicine considers illness to be the result of a stagnation of the life energy Chi. Due to the upright, open postures and the liberating breathing that comes with it, stagnant life energy will get flowing again. In this way, complaints can be alleviated or do not occur in the first place.
How does Tai Chi affect my life energy?
In Tai Chi you learn the secret of moving in the energetic flow in such a way that no energy blockages occur. This not only prevents illness, but also has a positive effect on the psyche.
The Tao Exercises that we practice in Qigong stimulate the flow of energy and balance all the energy meridians. The special energy exercises from Taoist meditation and Tai Chi Chuan are able to recharge even the so-called "pre-natal" Chi.
I have more energy!
Tai Chi as burn-out prophylaxis
Today's working environment can be very demanding and challenging. It is easy to fail to recognise and exceed our limits due to high demands. Our system might be able to cope with this in the short term, but it can be draining in the long run. As all levels of being interact with each other (body, emotions, mental level, spiritual level), excessive demands on one of these levels also affect the others!
So if we constantly go beyond our limits, over time we end up in a state of physical and/or mental exhaustion. At some point, we even lack the strength to let go. If we don't take countermeasures in time, we end up in burn-out.
One part of Taoist philosophy is the topic of "self-cultivation". This means using your strength economically and purposefully, resonating with external rhythms and recognising where it makes sense to exert yourself – and where it doesn't. In order to be able to assess these situations well, it is an advantage if we stay centered and perceive changes on our different levels well enough. If we have good access to ourselves it’s easier for us to say „no“ at the right moment.
When we are centered we take significantly different decisions than if we allow ourselves to be "carried away" by external circumstances.
What if high performance was clearly more connected to consciously dealing with our power than with self-exploitation?
Accelerated physical and mental regeneration
Also if we can’t take always perfect decisions when dealing with our powers – with increasing Tai Chi practice we will become definitely more skillful! We are able to react earlier, scrutinize some actions just in time and take countermeasures more efficiently.
With regular Tai Chi practice, our system is constantly reminded of what it feels like to be in flow and centred. If we slip out of this state, we now have a tool to regain this pleasant state of lightness, relaxation and joy!
We become more aware of taking care of ourselves and our bodies and bring more "self-care" into our lives. It may well happen that our surroundings have to change. 😉
It's worth it: more energy, more joy and more power overall! This gives us strength for everything that is important to us in life: job, family, friends and personal growth!
I'm more grounded, my body just feels good, even if I was tired before.
