Relaxing and letting go
The phenomenon of stress
From an evolutionary-biological point of view, stress is a natural survival mechanism that is quite appropriate in certain situations and can even have a positive effect in the right dose. However, chronic stress is a condition that pushes our body to its limits and should therefore be avoided.
Chronic stress is associated with numerous health risks as it unbalances the body’s hormonal system. Especially high cortisol levels over a longer period of time can cause a variety of health problems.
What is true stillness? Stillness in movement.
Coming to rest mentally and physically
The special energizing postures of Tai Chi Chuan, which enable the deep breath, have an immediate effect on your stress levels. Stress hormones are reduced within seconds and after a training session, life immediately feels easier.
A lasting effect can be achieved with regular practice, but even the first few hours provide initial relief or at least a breather. Your body gets used to the Tai Chi exercises and your breathing, pulse and thoughts will calm down more easily and quickly.
I find inner peace before stressful situations.
It has a calming, relaxing, balancing effect.
I always feel better after training than before 😉
The breath in Tai Chi Chuan
At Tai Chi Vienna, the breath is integrated into the lessons from the very beginning of Tai Chi practice. We allow the breath to shape the movement – conversely, the postures support the breath. Both therefore influence each other.
We move slower than usual as the breath flows with the movements. The breath becomes deeper and slower, relaxing our muscles and our entire system – we let go on a physical, emotional and mental level.
The deepened breathing provides more oxygen for all metabolic processes, in particular for detoxification and regeneration.
Breathing has improved. Also the attitude towards potentially threatening situations in everyday life.
Tai Chi and body awareness
The flowing, slow movements in addition to conscious breathing are accompanied by a particularly pleasant body sensation.
Our body "purrs" like a cat! Many people feel this pleasant "side effect" very quickly, for some it might take a while.
In general, it can be said that Tai Chi practice goes hand in hand with an extremely improved, relaxed body feeling. It seems as if we (as soul) have finally „arrived“ in our bodies!
