Those who practice Tai Chi Chuan regularly become strong like a lumberjack, supple like a child, and serene like a sage.
Ease and lightness
The combination of the flowing Tai Chi movements with the breath creates a very special physical sensation: the body feels much lighter and more alive!
Who wouldn't like to have this pleasant feeling of ease in their life?
What if this were our "normal" body sensation?
For many people, Tai Chi and Qigong also improve their relationship to their own body and its needs. Through positive experiences, we learn to listen to our bodies and can more easily give up things that are not good for us. Conversely, we find it easier to recognise what supports and strengthens us.
We train our intuition and our "gut feeling" and get practice: listening to the body will become easier and easier over time. The reward: ease, joie de vivre and power!
Joint mobility
The modern, predominantly sedentary lifestyle often has a negative effect on hip joints, knees and ankles: the tissue hardens, the joints stiffen, incorrect posture and misalignments develop. The feet tilt inwards so that the inside of the feet rests on the floor.
In the body, everything is connected to everything else – and so these misalignments can also cause problems in the knees, hips and lower back.
Not to forget: flexibility in body and mind – they are inextricably linked!
Stiffness in the body inevitably brings with it a certain tendency to harden the mind and spirit.
With our gentle Tai Chi movements, we can make joints supple again, loosen the muscles and tendons associated with them and successfully counteract these tendencies.
Physical and mental balance
Of course, our organ of balance in the inner ear is very important for physical balance, but a well-trained muscular system and flexible joints are also crucial.
Tai Chi makes a decisive contribution to both: our muscles are gently stretched and continuously built up – this gives our joints the greatest possible freedom of movement! Over time, it becomes easier and easier to shift the weight to one foot or the other and even to perform complex positions on one leg.
Outer and inner balance are connected: physical balance provides general stabilisation and self-confidence. Once the body has learnt the sensation of equilibrium and balance, it’s also easier for us to experience emotional and mental balance.
